Incident at Fern Moss
By Joseph P Hradisky Jr
I dedicate this book to my loving wife and my two sons, Alec and Ian.
This story is about the ongoing relationship between humans and dragons – it can be good but for the most part it is a love / hate relationship but it also shows the idea that no matter what being there is you will always find there are the good, the bad, and the neutral
This is a work of fiction. All the characters are fictitious and resemble no persons living or dead

The picture finally stopped swirling to show a large, rain soaked meadow. Drops of water were falling from newborn leaves, with an occasional shower, when the wind blew. Somehow Paul could feel, and smell, the newness of spring in the air. The wonderful aroma of growing plants filled the air with their invigorating sweetness. As many birds began to come out of cover to fly playfully around each other or to sing to the sunshine the blue skies were bringing. Above the birds the last tatters of the storm were quickly giving room to clear, blue sky and a noonday sun which felt very comfortably warm.
Paul could hear, and sense, all this through the dragon scale he was touching. He had no idea how but it was almost like he was actually there. Letting this thought drift he turned his attention to the meadow to see that near the center there stood several tall monolithic stones set in a half circle. Atop the two nearest to Paul was another block of stone covering from edge to edge the two upright stones. As he stared at the black formations Paul suddenly felt a wave of agonizing pain coming from the structure. One heartbeat it was there, the next it was gone.
